More and more companies in the pharmaceutical industry are expected to turn to outsourced IT in the years to come.

According to a new report by Pharmaceutical Online, many of the firms in the sector are under high pressure to slash costs and will take a number of steps to do this.

One is to reduce the amount of research and development work they undertake, while another is to up levels of outsourcing.

It went on to suggest that many organisations in the pharmaceutical industry now rely on outsourcing “more than ever”, with outside bodies said to be responsible for completing tasks and solving problems.

Among the common benefits of the process are an increase in both efficiency and productivity, the news source noted.

InformationWeek recently reported findings from IDC Health Insights, which predicted outsourcing will grow in popularity across the health sector, with the ability to complete work faster one of the key attractions of the option.
