Sigma Software shakes the San Francisco stages

This September Hyatt Regency hotel in San Francisco hosted the first ever Ukrainian-American IT conference UTGem.

Top managers, IT stars, investors and startupers gathered together to discuss the prospects and potential of Ukrainian IT industry, light up current IT trends, meet new business contacts and share hands-on experience. Sigma Software supported the conference as a Platinum Sponsor and presented three speeches at the conference main stage.

The UTGem conference was designed as a networking platform for the IT companies and tech specialists from Ukraine and the US. The event aims to promote the image of the fast evolving Ukrainian IT industry and to extend the cooperation between both countries IT businesses.

The distinguished keynote speakers list included the representatives of Ukrainian and American biggest IT companies (Intel, HP, Sigma Software, Epam, Ciklum, Eleks, Jooble, Innovecs, and others), ventures capital companies (500 startups, Almaz Capital, Mohr Davidow ventures, AVentures, Asset Management ventures) and leading business media resources (Forbes and Kyiv Post). The conference was also attended by Ruslana Lyzhychko, the famous Ukrainian singer. She opened a pre-party, which took place September 17th. On the main day of the conference, September 18th, she took part in a media panel dedicated to the info wars in Ukraine.

Valery Krasovsky, COO at Sigma Software, made a presentation on the main stage of Hyatt Regency Hotel, which hosted the event. The speech was dedicated to mentality challenges that the company faces while providing services worldwide.

Valery also took part in a debate panel. Together with Eric Gillespie (Govini), Alex Lutskiy (Innovecs), Shane Kinder (Elance-oDesk) Valery discussed the main challenges of building a global company and shared Sigma Software experience of working with companies in different parts of the globe.

“We work with Europe, Asia, America — they all have different mentalities, different approaches and mode of operations. To build a successful partnership, the company should take into account mentality of the client`s country origin”.

Alexey Stoletny, Head of Sigma Software US, rocked the main stage with the speech “Proven approaches in serving startups”.

Startups often run into the same mistakes on their way to a successful product. How to build a bridge between investors and developers, how to make right commitments and avoid making false, how to stay in control of costs — these tips can help startups to escape most common mistakes”,

underlined Alexey in his presentation.

One more speech was presented at the main stage by Katherine Tuluzova, Project Manager at Sigma Software. She shared the company`s proven practice allowing to release startup from the idea within only 3 months and 15000 man-hours. All speeches were met with high interest from the audience.

“Ukraine becomes well-known on the world`s map due to its IT industry impressive development and a talented pool of IT specialists. The industry is in need to be promoted on the global market and the UTGem conference marked the beginning of the long and, I hope so, fruitful work in this area”,
