Romanian-designed software system for “electronic prescription” wins award at European gala

The European Gala for IT&Software Excellence awarded the Romanian project SIPE (“the electronic prescription”) last week in the category “Enterprise solution of the year”.

The system was introduced on January 1 2013 and since then over 50 million medical prescription have passed through it. The system designed for CNAS has 16,000 users, all medical professionals that have access to a database of over 4.5 Tb. These are just some of the impressive technical asspects of the project that came from SIVECO and Hewlett-Packard.

The European jury appreciated the way the “electronic prescription” facilitates the process of connecting patients with their intended medicine and the way errors could be easily avoided by simply eliminating the “hand-writing” component of prescriptions.

“We are honored by this award, given the competition was fierce, with many projects that generated an impact. 80 companies from 16 countries competed this year. The IT system for CNAS is one of the most complicated. Huge efforts were unterdatken and only now did we start seeing extraordinary results”,

says Dragos Dobran, director for eHealth at Siveco Romania.

The electronic prescription is an essential component of the IT Platform designed for the Medical system in Romania that will continue with implementing the electronic health card and the electronic patient file.
