Sigma Software supports IT education for children

Sigma Software has recently supported several initiatives, aimed at promotion of IT education among kids.

Starting from November 2015, we have supported three different projects in Odesa and Kharkiv and are planning to expand the cooperation.

This year our company became a partner of CodeClub — a British IT education initiative. CodeClub (link is external) has been working for several years In Ukraine in a form of free coding clubs for children at the age of 8-14. The volunteers teach children to create computer programs, games, animation, and websites.

The HTML/CSS Club`s classes in Odesa are being held at Sigma Software Odesa office. The first open lesson took place on March 6th.

While kids were busy studying basics of games development, Evgeniy Yakovlev, Head of Sigma Software Odesa office, made a short presentation for students` parents. He talked about prospects that IT education opens and lightened company`s education initiatives.

Back in November the company`s Odesa office also started cooperation with BOTEON robotics school. On Saturdays Sigma Software hosts the classes for students of the school, who come to the company`s office to learn basics of electronics and programming.

“Much has been said about IT education improvement in Ukraine. However it is impossible without the development of programs for children. Such initiatives as CodeClub or BOTEON stimulate children and parents` interest to the very promising and perspective IT sector. We are pleased to be part of them,”

says Ievgen Yakovlev.

The company`s Kharkiv office was recently visited by the students of Spalah IT school. Children at the age of 8-12, together with their teacher and parents came to see the Sigma Software office, take an inside look at IT specialists` life, and get acquainted with the way a big IT company works.

“Children are our future. Therefore, we are always ready to support such initiatives. In the future we hope to expand our cooperation in other Ukrainian cities, where the company has offices,”

says Valery Krasovsky, CEO at Sigma Software.

“The development of IT education in Ukraine is among the company`s main focuses. From now on we not only help universities to improve the quality of educational programs for today`s students, but also we help training kids that will become IT students in 5-7 years”.
